Tijdens de opkomst van Kan zijn bestaan verder een Koerden vaak slachtoffer. In het begin stellen ze zich enigszins neutraal op, doch wanneer ze aldoor meer geraken aangevallen, vermengen ze zich in een strijd en dit Koerdische leger kan zijn daarbij ons bondgenoot aangaande dit Westen.

In 1962 the Syrian government carried out a census in the Kurdish-dominated Kurdish History Al-Ḥasakah governorate in the northeast of the country. Those who could not prove that they had lived in Syria since 1945 lost Syrian citizenship, leaving many stateless. Veel bevolkingsgroepen wonen door elkaar heen. Hierdoor kan zijn Irakees nationalisme niet zo bijgevolg en oplopen een Koerden verdere ruimte om hun persoonlijk identiteit te behouden. Bovendien is daar daar na een val van de Iraakse president Saddam Hoessein een machtsvacuüm opkomen daar waar een Koerden gebruik van produceren.
